Using Packing Boxes For Moving
by Nancy
Packing boxes for moving are
essential whenever moving location, such as town, city or even state, however many people leave this worry until
the very end, when the urgency of it is hitting them in the face. As a matter of fact, packing boxes should be one
of the first things to take care of before starting with packing.
Moving to another location is never an easy
task. There are many things you need to take care in advance of, including planning the trip, organizing
truck rentals for moving, packing everything and organizing
the new location to be ready in terms of housing, school for kids, workplace, car insurance and
others.
Here are some tips on hiring truck rentals, however this is only one part of the entire
moving process. What about packing and having enough boxes and supplies for doing a good and proper job of
it?
There are several packing supplies that you
need, however boxes take precedence above everything else. Without boxes there is nothing to pack your things in.
When you have enough of them at hand, you can easily organize all your belongings based on various categories that
you choose to assign to them.
If you think that only by using suitcases is
enough, think again. You can't pack your TV in it, and neither other heavy gadgets and appliances, or even your
many books.
Here are some additional things that can go in
packing boxes when moving: your previous china, all the electronic accessories, your bed linen, all your clothes,
and as mentioned before, book. I have at home at least 2000 books (still unread), so if I ever have to move, I'll
be in a big pickle without some sturdy and big boxes that will hold all these books for me during the
transport.
When you're sure that you will be
relocating soon, you need to organize boxes for moving. But how do you know what type of boxes you need which
ensures that they are durable, secure and sturdy enough, and where to get them from?
First of all, the boxes need to be sturdy
enough to be able to hold even heavy stuff like a plasma television. So don't go running into the nearest grocery
store and grab the boxes that are thrown away until you check that they are not dirty and moist with a bottom that
is about to give in. You really need sturdy boxes for your move.
So here are some places that you might find
just the right type of boxes that you need for packing:
 |
Department stores - They have great boxes and most of all, clean
ones, since they use them for transporting clothes and other clean wares to sell |
 |
Drug stores - You might find some good boxes here that were used to
transport medicines and pills, creams and lotions. However make sure that they're not wet (or were wet
and they're dry as they won't be sturdy enough) |
 |
Grocery stores - I know many people swear by them, but I personally
avoid them for this purpose. But it's listed here and it's up to you if you go this route. You might
find a gem or two while searching. |
 |
Same
applies for restaurants - I'd personally never take from them (knowing that they held
food in them so spillage is very easy), but I know people who were successful in getting good boxes
this way. |
 |
Bookstores - Perfect boxes for storing your books, don't you think?
They always have plenty of boxes with all the new arrivals, so make sure you ask and you shall be
given. |
 |
Buying them from boxes suppliers - They will come at a cost, of
course, but if all avenues have already been explored, this might be a good way to go.
Amazon is a good place to
check out. |
 |
Finally
look in the local newspapers ads. Many people have good boxes that they need to get
rid of due to lack of space, and all they ask in return is for you to go and pick them up. If they're
not far away, it might only cost you a bit of petrol for the road. Might be worth it. I know my parents
got a few good deals in their time going this route |
Along with boxes you will need other packing
supplies and moving supplies, such as plastic bags, bubble wrapped bags, sellotape, scissors and also a couple of
smaller boxes. The reason for these is that depending on what you're packing, you might need to pack some very
small pieces of china or other fragile items. If you
pack them all in one big box, they'll move around, get shaken and most probably chipped or even broken during the
transport. So packing them first in a few small boxes which then go in a bigger box is usually the way to
go.
